Abolition For The People: Reimagining Justice in the 21st Century
What is Abolition For The People?
Abolition For The People (AFP) is a movement to abolish the prison system and reimagine justice in the United States. Founded in 2018, the organization has grown to include over 50 chapters across the country, working to build a world without prisons, police, or poverty.
AFP believes that the current criminal justice system is a system of oppression that perpetuates violence, racism, and economic inequality. The organization argues that prisons do not make us safer and that they actually contribute to crime by creating a cycle of poverty and recidivism. AFP also believes that the police are a violent and racist institution that terrorizes communities of color.

AFP's vision is of a world without prisons, police, or poverty. In this world, people would be free to live their lives without fear of violence or oppression.
AFP's Work
AFP's work is focused on three main areas: grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy.
AFP's grassroots organizing work is centered on building relationships with people who are most impacted by the criminal justice system. This includes people who have been incarcerated, people who have been affected by police violence, and people who are living in poverty. AFP organizes these communities to fight for their rights and to build a better future.
AFP's education work is focused on raising awareness about the harms of the criminal justice system and the need for abolition. The organization provides trainings, workshops, and other resources to help people understand the issues and to get involved in the movement.
AFP's advocacy work is focused on changing the policies that perpetuate the criminal justice system. The organization works to pass legislation that reduces crime and violence, invests in communities, and holds police accountable.
AFP's Impact
AFP has had a significant impact on the movement for abolition in the United States. The organization has helped to raise awareness about the harms of the criminal justice system and has played a key role in building a national movement for change.
AFP's work has also had a direct impact on the lives of people who are most impacted by the criminal justice system. The organization has helped to free people from prison, to reunite families, and to create safer communities.
